SCAR Critical Care Patient: Fozzie Bear
Tax deductible
Our newest Critical Care patient Fozzie Bear was found stuck in a prickly bush in Coney Island by a Good Samaritan who brought him to our shelter. Fozzie was shocked and frightened and sadly, he was also in a great deal of pain. We quickly discovered that Fozzie is blind and deaf, the result of recurrent untreated eye and ear infections. His fur was long, filthy and completely matted. Poor Fozzie was so afraid he was unable to move. Our veterinarian and his team at Pet Haven Animal Hospital cleaned and shaved him and started treatment for his painfully infected ears. Fozzie is so sweet and made many friends at the shelter, everyone loves him! Especially the person who would become his foster Mama Fozzie went from being too frightened to move to enjoying leisurely strolls, sitting in laps, being pet and rolling around in the grass. He now knows how it feels to be loved! Fozzie has been treated for recurrent eye and ear infections while with us. We needed to be sure he was free of infection so he could have his first surgery which would remove what was left of his eyes. Fozzie was recently medically cleared and his first surgery was successfully performed yesterday. He is resting comfortably (and snoring, one of his signature traits) at his foster's Mama’s home today. Once Fozzie is fully recovered he will need another surgery to remove his very badly damaged ear canals. These surgeries are medically necessary to prevent painful infections from recurring in the future. Fozzie’s medical care costs are expected to surpass $5,000.00. We humbly ask you to consider a donation for this precious boy. He deserves to have a pain-free life full of love…please donate to help make that happen. Our Critical Care Program relies on donations from caring folks like you...no donation is too small. Every donation makes a difference!
