On Tuesday 12/1 Sean was admitted to the emergency room after a month of ongoing tests and misdiagnosis. A CT scan that day finally found a tumor in his chest the size of a grapefruit pressing on his heart and wind pipe. He had fluid around his heart and in his lungs.
Once admitted to the hospital he underwent 2 surgeries. One to biopsy the tumor and another to place a stint in his wind pipe to keep it from collapsing. The second surgery although successful had a huge set back when Sean ended up being intubated over night in the CCU.
Alicia was alone in the hospital when she sat in his empty hospital room and was told by the oncologist that he had non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and in the same conversation was called by the surgeon to be told of the surgery set back. By the grace of god he was taken off of the breathing machine the next day and Alicia was able to be with him and be the one to tell him of the diagnosis.
Late Friday 12/4 Sean was moved out of CCU and to the Oncology unit where he had a pick line put in so he would be able to begin Chemo Saturday.
Saturday morning 12/5 Alicia went into labor, so his doctors approved to delay the chemo until that night and the directors of the hospital facilitated to have Sean come be at Alicia’s side for the final phase of labor and see his daughter be born; Madison Marie Lifter.
She arrived at 7:09pm weighing 7lbs 7oz and 21.5” long. She was perfect.
When Alicia was moved to her hospital room Sean was taken back to his in Oncology and immediately began his first round of Chemo over night. Sean finished his first round of chemo and was released from the hospital late Thursday.
The family was elated to finally be together as a family of 4 for the first time. Sean has a long road ahead of him and there are still so many questions to be answered.
Alicia will be stretched to care for not only Madison and Mason but also help Sean as he fights this.
By providing a donation you are helping to alleviate some of the burden from the growing medical bills. The Lifter family is so appreciative to all for the love and support.
