My name is Andy and I am a former med school classmate of Sean's.
Recently Sean had an accident that lead to bleeding of the brain and multiple skull fractures. He has been in the ICU and is progressing as he was recently able to walk with physical therapy's assistance. Recently, however, he was in so much pain that walking proved to be very difficult. He is starting to remember people he sees. There have been and will be ups and downs.
Sean has a long road of recovery ahead. Many people think that the journey ends once a patient is transferred out of the ICU. This is quite contrary, as many times patients in these situations usually end up requiring extensive rehabilitation. This is a long journey that we are prepared to walk with Sean's family.
I got to know Sean in medical school while I was having a difficult time with my health. He would always come up to me and ask how I'm doing and if I needed anything. I know Sean's compassion for his patients is beyond genuine because of the empathy he provides others on a day-to-day basis. No matter what I was always still considered his "brother." :)
Please consider donating to help support Sean and his family. His wife Meagan has a heart of gold and with parents like Sean and Meagan, their sons are going to change the world someday. This is a family that teaches the importance of giving, and it's time we gave back.
