Sean Osborne Rehab & Medical Expenses
Donation protected
Hi! My name is Victoria Gates and my husband is Aaron Gates. Rebecca, Brody, and Sean are family to us and are the reason we wanted to set this fundraising page up to help them out during this tough situation.
On Sunday, March 21st, Aaron and I went to the Osborne house for our usual Sunday “family” dinner and as any other Sunday, Aaron and Sean wanted to ride their dirt bikes. During his first lap, Sean went to make a jump that I have seen him make 1 million and a half times, but this time the bike malfunctioned. There was no way to stop the bike and no where to go but over the handle bars which resulted in him landing on his head (Thank God he was wearing a helmet!). Aaron was still gearing up to ride and immediately ran to Sean when he landed on his back, at which point Sean told Aaron that he couldn’t feel his legs. Rebecca came outside and called an ambulance and we were able to quickly get him to the hospital where he was rushed in to a spinal decompression surgery that was successful. Sean’s back was broken at T3 and T4 and the break was pinching the spinal cord. At this point, Sean could not feel anything below his nipples. The next day he gained a few inches down of feeling to the top of his rib cage before his second surgery on Tuesday, which was to stabilize his spine. That surgery was also a success as the doctors were able to get everything aligned just right like it is supposed to be. As of this morning, he has gained more feeling back and can now feel down to his belly button. He still has a very long road ahead to recovery, but I believe in a higher power that says He gives us what we need and hears all of our prayers. Sean’s positive outlook and love of life will always amaze me, but it will also carry him and his family through this experience no matter the final results.
Rebecca has been so strong for Sean and Brody and it has been such a blessing to her for all of the support from everyone to get through these past couple of days. However, this is just the beginning of what will be a very long road physically, emotionally, and financially. If you’ve ever had the pleasure to call Sean a friend, you know he is one determined man. So there is no doubt in my mind he will work as hard as he can to be the best version of himself for Rebecca and Brody. While we all have worked hard to relieve every possible worry and stress that we can for Rebecca, the financial impact of his emergency care, surgeries, hospital stays, and rehabilitation are overwhelming to say the least. Rebecca has narrowed down the rehab options to two options; one located in Denver and the other in Houston. So on top of rehab expenses they will have living expenses, travel expenses, care for Brody, etc.
To say this accident was unexpected is an understatement. Sean is one of the best riders I have ever seen and I don’t think any of us thought we would ever be in the situation. His ability to push his limits and determination along with a lot of prayers will be what helps him recover, but they could also use financial support. We are asking for you to please consider donating to help them get through this difficult chapter of their lives.
Please also continue to pray for Sean’s healing, his doctors, his therapists, Rebecca, and Brody as they embark on this new journey together as a family.
