Sean Ott is a Sr Reporting Analyst at Roper St Francis Healthcare, and my friend. For the last 3.5 years, he has tirelessly used his skills to make other peoples' lives easier. He has worked to illuminate gaps in clinical documentation, improve care coordination, and support numerous other quality and patient safety initiatives. Sean's behind-the-scenes work building and refining reports has measurably improved health outcomes for hundreds (if not thousands) of patients and people in our community.
But in January, Sean became a patient. After a week of worsening aphasia, a biopsy revealed advanced brain cancer: an inoperable, stage IV glioblastoma. It's a particularly cruel disease for someone who loves to talk as much as Sean does, and at 49-years-old with a wife, two kids, and parents down the street, a tremendously sad diagnosis for the entire Ott family.
Compounding the medical challenge, Sean's applications for short- and long-term disability were denied due to pre-existing conditions. On January 29th, he went on leave from RSFH to begin treatment.
Beyond Sean's technical skills and unceasing work ethic, he is a genuinely good person. For the last couple years, Sean has given his yearly merit raises to younger members on our team (including me) to help grow our careers. For everyone else not in our cost center, I bet he's stopped by your desk at least several times to chat and/or drop off some candy.
Your donation will help support the Ott's during the most difficult time in their lives. You don't have to give much, but please give something to help a guy who's spent his entire tenure at our organization helping everyone else.
