Sean Stutman passed away unexpectedly on July 15 at age 7. Diagnosed with Down Syndrome at birth, Sean overcame numerous obstacles through consistent hard work, faith, and community support that allowed him to accomplish many things, physically, intellectually, and faith-wise that many adults have never.
You can learn all about his remarkable and inspiring life journey at the organization and website we've established to honor and fuel his legacy - Sean's Path. The mission of Sean’s Path, is to spread, in tangible ways, Sean’s legacy of faith, adventure, and breaking boundaries. Funds will support initiatives, organizations, and activities that have fueled his unique path.
A few examples of initiatives that Sean's Path will bring to life include:
Fund Distribution:
- Breaking Boundaries: Providing funds for a family with a brain-injured child (e.g. Down's Syndrome, Autism, Cerebral Palsy) to receive services and education from The Institutes for The Achievement of Human Potential (IAHP.org), the organization that helped guide Sean's physical and intellectual programming.
- Faith: Funding the purchase and distribution (at local churches perhaps) of Play "Mass Kits," a favorite pastime of Sean's, which he used to conduct pretend Mass in our home with his friends and relatives.
- Adventure: Supporting organizations that fueled Sean's love of adventure including the Appalachian Trail Conservancy.
Fund Raising:
- Adventure: Creating an annual SeansMile inclusive walks and family hikes to raise funds for Sean's Path.
The above are a few examples. Visit Sean's Path to learn more.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your contribution and support of Sean‘s Path…both while he was on the earth and now that he is ahead of us, guiding us forward.
We will keep you posted on how the funds are being spent and the vision and activities for Sean's Path as they materialize in the coming months.
With love and gratitude,
The Stutman Family
