Sean's Gift of Sharing Toy Drive 2024

Sean Thomas sadly lost his battle with leukemia 9 years ago, but his legacy lives on through the annual "Sean's Gift of Sharing" Toydrive.

The idea behind “Sean’s Gift of Sharing” toy drive came from his last birthday in 2015 when he was too sick to go home but was given permission to hold a birthday party just outside his oncology ward. More than 200 people attended and Sean was so overwhelmed with all his gifts that his mother, Tina said he asked if he could share his birthday gifts with the other oncology patients.

“Dressed in his hospital gown and slippers, I lifted him into his wheelchair and pushed him around the wards so he could drop off a gift and a bag of candies for each patient. Sean was absolutely thrilled to be able to share his gifts and spread joy to these fellow oncology patients. That is how I came up with the name ‘Sean’s Gift of Sharing’,” Tina explained.

“For me personally, ‘Sean’s Gift of Sharing’ is a way to keep Sean’s memory alive and to honour his very loving, generous spirit,” Tina said.

In September each year our Toydrive the brave BC Children's Hospital oncology patients.
