Sean's Liver Transplant Journey and Road to Recovery

Donation protected
Dear Friends, Family, and Kind Hearts,

For those who don’t know him, this is my amazing husband, Sean Beverley. Sean has been working in I.T. for over 25 years and he is the co-owner of our small local tennis shop Tennis String Theory in Falls Church & Ashburn, VA. We had to close the doors to one for a few weeks while he was in the hospital. I'm reaching out today with a plea for help on behalf of my dear husband Sean. For several years now, Sean has been battling multiple autoimmune illnesses that attack his liver. At the beginning of 2023, we learned that he has PSC, primary sclerosing cholangitis, leaving his liver in a state that no longer allows it to function optimally. It leaves him feeling weak & dwindled of energy. I have literally watched his body transform into something I hardly recognize. In this last year things have gotten progressively worse: fluid retention, fever, pain, substantial weight/muscle mass loss, poor appetite and more. While battling this disease, he continues to keep a smile on his face and continues to work part time at our Tennis shop to give him some outlet, instead of stressing over the unknown.

His doctors have informed him that he needs a liver transplant.

On January 5th, 2024, he was hospitalized for about a week due to his liver disease, then a few weeks later he was sick again. He was fortunate to receive an expedited appointment to begin the evaluation process to be put on the transplant list. We met with multiple members of the team, and they took 30 tubes of blood. They requested him to ask a family member or friend to be a living donor, which we are working on.

Sean is a wonderful and loving husband and an amazing father who has touched the lives of so many with his kindness and generosity. He has always been there for others in their time of need, and now he needs our help more than ever.

Unfortunately, the cost of a liver transplant is astronomical, and Sean's insurance coverage falls short of covering all the expenses. On top of the surgery itself, there are countless medical bills, post-transplant medications, and rehabilitation costs to consider. As Sean's wife, it breaks my heart to see him stressed out by this financial strain on top of his already challenging health battle.

That's why I have set up this GoFundMe campaign to rally support for Sean’s cause. Every donation, no matter how big or small, will make a difference in his journey toward receiving a life-saving liver transplant.

Please consider donating to Sean's liver transplant fund and sharing this campaign with your friends, family, and social networks. Together, we can make a profound impact on Sean's life and give him the chance he deserves to live a healthy and fulfilling future.

As you might imagine, this is MASSIVE surgery. He will be incapacitated for at least 2-3 months afterward if all goes well. He will have no immune system, as many drugs will be prescribed to prevent the new organ from being rejected, many doctor and physical therapy visits. In addition to wonderful friends who have stepped forward to offer assistance with helping Sean and I, I am raising funds for professional help from a part-time nurse while I will be working most of the time because my income is nearly nothing due to my husband being the breadwinner in our family (this will be a big expense), food-safe meal preparation, transportation, housing costs, therapies, and assistance with living expenses for the remainder of the year. With your love, prayers, and financial support, I know we can build the calmest, healing, peaceful and safer environment for his recovery.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generosity, love, and support during this challenging time.

With heartfelt gratitude,

Sean and Family
