Search and Rescue Drone for First Responders
Donation protected
Hello everyone! In this fundraiser, we are looking to fund a research project that will be useful in improving methods for first responders to use in emergencies.
This project involves building and testing a Hybrid Drone that can detect and locate people using thermal vision, while also maintaining 1 hour, or more of flight time while covering large areas in short intervals.
Project Capabilities: This Hybrid Drone will be a new type of drone for first responders to utilize. In choosing this hybrid model, we add value because it has both a drones’ takeoff and landing capabilities and an airplanes high endurance for flight, which allows for safe takeoff and landing, simultaneous to supporting long flights for searching.
Team Background: The research team working on this project has worked in this search and rescue topic once before. We participated in the search and rescue: triple challenge for first responders and ranked 3rd in the nation! Needless to say, we are motivated and ready for the challenge on creating a faster way to locate missing persons during disasters such as rubble from earthquakes, floods, hiking in mountainous areas, and missing persons in heavily forested areas.
Sponsorship background: We recently got approved for support from NASA on some of the funding but we need your help to get a foothold on the future we are trying to create.
Milestones:
● Design, build, develop code and test UAS hybrid Quadplane.
● Develop, test and gather data for the deep NN detection model.
● Develop UGV to be a moving landing platform/recharge station for Quadplane.
● Develop a server communication system for all vehicles to exchange information.
We will begin constructing and testing the model within a month. We look forward to your help and will provide updates on every success we reach.
