Cherie's trip in search of a Cure

My inspirational wife has been researching all possibilities for hope. Our family soon will have to be apart so that she can continue to search for hope so that she may see our daughter into her teens, watch her graduate and be with me when I retire. We live in the state of Texas that does not recognize the use of cannabis as a drug. This state prides itself as a leader yet maintains to fall behind in the care of its citizens. We decided to sacrifice our already too limited time with our amazing mommy, daily counselor, boo-boo fixer and shining spot of light that has always pushed the clouds away.

Our 9yr old daughter of course does not completely understand as she has sat at her Momma's bed side at MDA in Houston for the many weeks, months and now years as to why she will be out of reach to hold our hands to comfort a sad thought or be that smile that makes our clouds disappear.

 I admit to feeling angry, that at 57 I myself cannot understand why cannabis with all its medicinal qualities cannot be legal, knowing all the harmful yet necessary drugs that are being pumped into my wife’s port and bloodstream, to keep her with us. Cannabis could help in this, to give her a chance to make one part of the world a little better, yet a law keeps her from having this chance, a law that is biased by fear and lack of knowledge, by ego that cannot allow change when it reflects against a belief that one holds dearer than the care and love for others. Yes I am angry, yet through Cherie my wife and inspiration I have hope. Hope to hold her close again, hope to see her not have pain every day, hope to hear her sing happy 16th birthday to our daughter. Hope to see Cherie's tears of joy as our daughter graduates and watch her continue her beautiful path in a world that needs her more than it will ever know.
