Searching for Terry Floyd
Donation protected
On June 28, 1975, my 12-year-old brother Terry Floyd was last seen standing at the corner of Sunraysia and Pyrenees highways in Avoca, waiting for a lift home to Maryborough, Victoria. Minutes later, he was spotted near Bung Bong Hill next to a suspicious vehicle that has since been identified. That was nearly 50 years ago, and it was the last time anyone ever saw Terry.
Since his disappearance, several persons of interest have been identified and interviewed, including a convicted pedophile who lived in the area at the time, but Terry has never been found.
For more than a decade, I have not given up hope. I have been meticulously searching a disused gold mine at Bung Bong Hill, just meters from where Terry was last seen. I strongly believe this mine is his final resting place. Almost every weekend, weather permitting, dozens of volunteers join me in the search. As we sift through the hundreds of tonnes of rubbish removed from the mine, we’ve found glimmers of hope—personal items similar to those Terry had with him when he disappeared.
Two of Victoria’s finest homicide detectives, Ron Iddles and Charlie Bezzina, have also dedicated time to uncovering the truth about what happened to Terry. Charlie Bezzina continues to work actively alongside me in this investigation.
There is currently a $1 million reward for information that could lead to a conviction and bring justice to those responsible for Terry’s disappearance. Along with this reward, there’s an indemnity from prosecution for anyone who knows what happened but was not directly involved.
Despite receiving some funding from the Victorian Government, this heartbreaking search has taken a significant financial and emotional toll on me. I am determined to finish the search, but I need help to continue. Any financial support will help me find Terry and finally solve the mystery of what happened to him.
If you can, please donate to help me bring my brother home.
