Season of Giving - 2021

Our annual fundraiser for a family needing some holiday cheer is back! Well, we did miss last year, because...well, 2020.

The mother of our selected family and I met by chance. I immediately, and probably inappropriately, asked her what her situation was for Christmas in terms of her 2 kids and finances. Completely none of my business, but when God puts something on my heart - I go with it.

I won't go into too much detail, but she said didn't want to take such a gracious offer from another family. I disagreed, and told her I thought they were the perfect benefitting family. She told me that she had just told her children that Christmas was going to be very small this year.

About her: Single mother of 2 children. Works 2 jobs, and looking for a 3rd. Ex hasn't participated in the kids lives in over 6 years. No child support, nor emotional support to the kids. Never sends birthday or Christmas presents. Nothing. Zero contact. Advised her on their anniversary years ago, that he had been cheating on her, and was leaving for another woman. Lovely.

When I made the offer to her - she cried. A lot. We both did honestly. This is not someone who has her hand out, so it took a lot of digging to get her to accept.

Let's show them the power of goodness and love!

I've asked her for a list for both kids, along with ages and sizes, as well as a list for herself. Told her to think big! Stacy and I are incredibly blessed to not need a thing, so being able to do for others brings us so much joy. (Me especially b/c I get to wrap everything, which is one of my favorite things to do.)

All donations will go directly to the the purchasing of items on the gift list. I'll post detailed receipts, as I do every year, to account for where the money has gone. Any overage after gift purchases will go to bills.
