Seating Lorraine & David in Taylor Theater

Please join the effort to honor Lorraine Shackelford and David Giddens, by helping to fund a golden plaque for each of them, side-by-side, as part of the Taylor Theater seat campaign.

Lorraine served as Director of Theatre Education at UNC Greensboro for more than 15 years, while 1971 UNCG alumnus David contributed abundantly to the legacy of Greensboro music as an artist and educator. Both have inspired generations of arts educators, not only as compassionate teachers but as stalwart caregivers of each other, during and after their respective retirements.

We hope that by “seating them together forever" in the renovated Taylor Theater, we may symbolize their immortality in the hearts of those whom they have inspired and continue to foster the branches of their influential giving tree for the generations that follow.

After the very achievable goal of the seat campaign has been met, and seats have been purchased through this GoFundMe drive, every extra dollar will be given to Lorraine and David. All additional contributions will help improve the quality of their lives as they face long-term health challenges, relieve some of the financial burdens in their post-retirement years, and remind them of how important they are to so many of us.
