Hi my name is James. The shorter end of my story. In 2009 I was involved in an on the job auto accident. I was the Sergeant over Idaho Department of Corrections inmate Wildfire crews. They were dispatched to a large fire. I was going to my house to grab all my fire gear. I went through an intersection with a green light for me. A young nursing student ran the red light doing almost 50 mph. We collided and I was severely injured. I damaged a few of the disks and vertebrate in my Lumbar and sacrum. To the point where I had two surgeries that fall. One in October the other in November. I then had rehab for over a year learning to move and walk with the back injury. I had to take an early retirement. Then in 2014 my back repairs became damaged. I had 9 more surgeries from 2014 to 2020. I fell earlier this summer and reinjured my back to the point where I need a new fusion. My back doctor now said my case is to difficult for him and he has recommended me to the University of Washington hospital in Seattle. The issue I'm running into is my insurance will not cover my and my wife's (caregiver) travel expenses. This includes airfare, hotel, car rental and food. My surgery is going to be intense. I will be hospitalized for at least 4 days and as many as 21 days. I'm going in for a new fusion where they fuse me from my Lumbar 2 to my Sacrum 2. Then rehab will be a long road but I'll get to do that back in Boise Idaho. As embarrassing as this is I'm asking for help with travel expenses for me and my wife so I can have this surgery and heal. Then maybe one day soon I'll get to walk a little more normal. I just want to be able walk my daughter into her Senior highschool graduation this coming spring. We adopted her in early 2008. We were her foster parents first. They placed her with us because we specialized in Autism. Now over the years we have taught her to talk, walk and communicate properly. I just don't want to hobble down the isle with a cane and sever pain. Please except my gratitude for your help.
