Farm Volunteer Work in Europe
Donation protected
What we're doing:
Mahalia and Abbie are going to volunteer on some farms in Europe! Neither of us can afford to go to college right now, and we want to do something productive and see the world. We plan to work with WWOOF.org and work on a variety of organic farms in France, Croatia, Turkey, Portugal, Ireland, and Italy. We will be bringing our instruments (guitar and accordion) with us, and busking for some spare cash. Mahalia is hoping to polish her Spanish skills and musical skills. Abbie is hoping to master French and learn about organic farming. We need a little help! We've been saving up for our trip, but we're both about $2000 short of our hoped budget. Help two girls get out and learn about the world before we go to college! It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for us.
What we're using donated money for:
While we're working on WWOOF farms, we will have our lodging and food paid for. But in between farms, while we're traveling to the next one, we will have to pay for hostels, food, and transportation costs. We also will need to buy travel insurance that's specifically suitable for farm work, and flights to and from home. Overall, this trip will be 'cheap' for an 8-month long excursion to Europe, but we need a total of about $8,000 each for living expenses and travel costs. For the last six months, we've been working hard to save up...but the cost of living in Seattle is high, and we are just waitresses. It's been a rough time, and any help would be appreciated!
Our vague itinerary:
So far, we've made arrangements to work on a farm in southern France (near Marseille) in late September, as well as a farm in Croatia throughout the month of October, and a farm in Ireland for the first half of December. We're trying to find a farm to work at in Turkey for the month of November, and plan on spending January - April working in Italy, Portugal, Poland, and Iceland. We're flexible on the later plans, but we're pretty set in our early plans. We're flying out of Seattle on September 4th and getting into Paris the following day. We'll bum around Paris for a few days to see the sights, then head down to the south of France to get to our farm. We plan to catch a cheap (79 euro) RyanAir flight from Marseille to Zadar in early October, then travel by bus to the eastern part of Croatia to get to our second farm. So far, that's all we have planned, but the beauty of this trip is that it doesn't need too much heavy planning. We're gonna work wherever farms need us, and experience whatever life wants us to. It will be a very open-minded learning experience!
What we'll do as a thank you:
Bring you back European goodies. <3 And play a private concert for you. And probably say 'thank you' too many times.
