Sebastian Deleon Heredia ' Prosthetic Eye

Hello my name is Leydis A Heredia Peralta. My Sons name is Sebastian he was born on May 23, 2015, in the Dominican Republic. Sebastian was born with a tumor in his left eye called ocular cystic hematoma.. During my pregnancy, everything went normal except for a few uncomfortable cramps and pains and the doctors assured me everything with my pregnancy was normal. I attended all my appointments had multiple sonograms, and nothing ever revealed what my son had on his eye. On my 40th week, the doctors decided on a c-section date, but 2 days before the assigned date I started to feel pains that then I came to find out were contractions. I was admitted into labor and delivery due to the size and weight of the fetus. During the emergency, c-section is when the doctors noticed Amniotic fluid was a rare color, a color that you would say is unusual.

This is when the doctors knew, something was not right with my baby.

Sebastian was coming into the world with a Tumor in his left eye.

Sebastian was then transfered to Hospital Infantil Robert Reid Cabral (angelita).

Ever since Sebastian was born he was been seen and evaluated by many professionals, it was concluded that Sebastian is the 3rd case in every 1000 babies born. Sebastian was admitted into surgery where the entire part of his eye was removed inside and out just 17 days after him being born and has been treated to this day by his ophthalmologist. During this time, Sebastian was referred to the eye and Ears plastic Surgery department in the state of Massachusetts to be evaluated. This time it was for a prosthesis opinion, with the help of the Ministry of Public Health of the Dominican Republic I was able to get a visa and with the help of family and friends I was able to pay for the trip and pay for all the consultations during our stay. Once I arrived in Massachusetts I was referred to Boston Ocular Prosthetics INC. where thankfully Sebastian was approved for a specially-made prosthesis for his left eye at a cost of about $8,000 including flight, and trip expenses. We will forever be grateful for any help and or donation. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Sebastian is an intelligent, affectionate, loving child. He enjoys spending time with his sisters and is a great student. Despite his condition, we have taught him that God has a great purpose for him.

Mi Nombre es Leydis y soy la mamá de Sebastián que Nació el 23 de Mayo del 2015 en la República Dominicana el cual Nació con un tumor en su ojo izquierdo llamado teratoma quístico ocular.

Durante el embarazo todo marchaba normal pero con algunas molestias, cambios poco inusuales pero según los médicos todo era parte del embarazo. Siempre fui a las citas médicas, por lo que nunca se percató ninguna anormalidad durante mis sonografía que el bebé tenía un tumor en su ojo izquierdo.

Cuando cumpli mis 40 semana fui a mi cita médica y en ese momento fue que el doctor decide poner fecha para una cesárea pero dos dia antes de mi fecha programada me comense a sentir mal dolores y contracciones me terminaron haciendo una cesárea de emergencia por el tamaño y el peso del niño, durante la cesárea notaron que el liquidó admitido estaba de color No muy unusual.

En ese momento los doctores sabían. que algo no estaba bien. Sebastian venía con un tumor en el ojo izquierdo, Fue trasladado al Hospital Infantil Robert Reid Cabral (angelita),.

Desde su nacimiento Sebastián fue evaluado por diferentes especialistas, se dio la conclusión que el caso de Sebastián es el tercer caso en cada mil bebés. Sebastián fue operado y extirpado toda la parte de su ojo fue removida por dentro y fuera a los diecisiete días después de su nacimiento y ha sido tratado hasta el día de hoy por su oftalmólogo. Durante este tiempo Sebastián fue referido al departamento cirugía plástica de Eye & Ears en el estado de Massachusetts para ser evaluado. Esta vez era para una opinión de prótesis con la ayuda del ministerio de salud pública de la Republica Dominicana pude conseguir una visa y con la ayuda de amigos y familia pude costear el viaje y pagar la consulta durante mi estadía .Ya en Boston fui referida una vez a Boston Ocular prosthetics Inc. Sebastián fue aprobado para una prótesis para su ojo con el costo de $8,000.00? El cual no podemos costear todo
