Hello my beautiful Soul Friends,

My Name is Nicola McDermottroe. I will be joining the amazing Building for Children team of volunteers departing in early January 2024 to Ethiopia. The team includes tradespeople and other professionals from Galway, Ireland.

We are raising funds for the Building for Children Project 2024 to renovate and repair Sebeta Blind School in Ethiopia. (Sebeta is a town about 15 miles south-west of Addis Ababa). This residential school has are over 300 blind/visually impaired students from all over the Oromio region of Ethiopia.

The children’s living conditions are very poor with little to no sanitation, no mattresses on their beds and some children sleeping on cold floors. There are no doors and no place to store their little limited belongings. The team joins in unity to combine all relevant skills required to renovate and repair these heart breaking living conditions for the children.

The teams vision is to enhance the children’s living conditions by making it safe and habitable.

AIM of Building for Children Project 2024 – Sebeta Blind School Ethiopia includes:

- Renovate 2 Dormitories for 80 blind/visually impaired girls and boys.

- Build 2 bathrooms in each dormitory.

- Replace doors.

- Paint rooms.

- Provide new mattresses.

- Provide individual lockers for the children.

- Play area.
