Secure a new lease for Atherton's Skuna Stadium
Donation protected
Atherton Collieries Football Club are fundraising to confirm a new lease for their home ground the Skuna Stadium. The funds raised will assist the club in covering the solicitors fees involved in securing the new agreement, which will help secure the long term future of the Collieries on Alder Street.
This security will also open up new avenues and windows for the club's ground improvement efforts, ensuring a wider range of grants for works on the club will be available.
These grants will greatly assist with long-awaited developments for the club, such as vital disabled access facilities, pitch improvements and upgrading the changing rooms & matchday hospitality.
With the club regularly hosting matches, functions and charity events for both our local community and proud junior section, securing a new lease will have the knock-on effect of helping develop facilities that our entire town and community can be proud of.
Atherton Collieries have played at the Skuna Stadium ever since their foundation in 1916. The club were formed as a means of providing welfare for those at home during the war effort. When the pits were nationalised, the football club and ground were gifted to the people of the town.
The ground has since come synonymous with the club's history, from the club's early successes in the Bolton Combination and Lancashire Shield, through to becoming founding members of the North West Counties Football League and subsequently working their way into the Northern Premier League's top rank, which is the highest level of football in the history of the town.
Atherton Collieries would be nothing without the support of our proud local community and our friends across the footballing divisions & sporting world, and your help as we look to both secure the future of our ground and take our facilities to the next level would be more than appreciated by us all.
