Secure a Safe Future for Anna and Jason

Hi, we’re Anna and Jason. I was a library worker with a pre-existing spinal injury when COVID hit. I got sick with long COVID, which stopped my work in public. I continued to write books about and for queer and disabled kids and adults. This has made some folks angry.
Jason has had to become both our sole provider and my caregiver while we waited to see whether I would be eligible for disability. This has been a strain for him, and we have been treading water for a long time.
Right now, with coming instability in the US, we’re not safe. We have no savings thanks to medical costs and disability rules, my previous work has raised some ire, and we are not able to pick up and leave should the situation become dangerous.
I know it’s a big ask, especially with so much happening right now. But we really need some help with relocation.
What we need:
- passports. We collectively need about $450 to make this happen.
- airfare. Without disclosing where for safety reasons, Jason will be attempting to transfer abroad. This will likely cost around $1000 for each of us. This is subject to change depending on how bad things get here.
- medical. Due to my disability status, certain countries will not accept me, or will only accept me if I carry my own health insurance. This narrows our options and raises our costs.
- visa application fees.
- likely deposit for housing.
This is probably our only shot at successfully relocating. I’m frankly very concerned about safety should we stay.
Thank you so much for considering helping us. I know the world is a lot and lots of us need help. Any bit is a huge help.
