Denver Security Sergeant shot in the line of duty

Hello, my name is Nolan Smith and I am a Patrol Sergeant for a security company in the Denver area that was shot in the line of duty while stopping to help a vehicle crash victim on September 18th 2023. My company's workers comp has denied my claim and is not willing to pay for my medical bills or for the 3 weeks of wages for when I was out of work recovering from my injuries.

A little more about me:

I have been in public safety for ten years. I have been in Search and Rescue, Technical Rescue, EMS, military medicine (US Navy Corpsman attached to the Marine Corps), and security. I am a lover of the outdoors and travel, that is why I moved to Colorado a few years ago. I am also the Denver Area Coordinator for a veteran mental health non-profit named Irreverent Warriors. The brotherhood and sisterhood of that non-profit played a major role in my speedy mental health recovery.
