See the Love! Support Malcolm's Eye Surgery!

Malcolm is a two-year-old chocolate lab mix who was rescued from a high kill shelter. Upon meeting Malcolm, we immediately noticed that both of his bottom eyelids were droopy. In addition, Malcolm's eyes were irritated and red, and the vet informed us that he had a condition called ectropion. Ectropion is an abnormality of the eyelids that Malcolm was born with. It means that his lower eyelids were rolling outward. Not only does this condition cause that droopy appearance, but it also exposes the delicate tissues that line the inner surface of the eyelid and cover the eyeball. This exposure causes chronic dryness and excessive tearing. Also, an active dog like Malcolm would get debris in his eyelids when playing outside. Debris such as pollen, grass, and dirt which would lead to chronic conjunctivitis and severe discomfort.

In order to give Malcolm a better quality of life, we made the decision to have both of Malcolm's eyes corrected and he had the surgery done on June 4. We have included pre-and post-photos and you can already see how much better they look. We are looking for donations to help offset the cost of the surgery. Any amount is appreciated.
