Seeking Safety and Healing: Weam's Journey

My name is Weam. I was in my final year of high school, eager to achieve a high score so I could attend university and pursue my dreams and ambitions. I had a future I wanted to create for myself. Unfortunately, the war had other plans. It shattered my dreams and disrupted my education, leaving me unable to complete my studies as many students around the world.

We used to live in the northern part of the Gaza Strip. We have been displaced many times in search of a safe place. My family and I have suffered greatly due to the war, facing danger and destruction in our area. My father is a merchant, but we lost our only source of income because his shop was destroyed, as was our home.

My mother suffers from severe back pain due to a slipped disc caused by the exhausting conditions of living in tents for a long period. She needs urgent medical treatment, and I am striving to get her to travel for treatment as soon as the border crossing opens. The healthcare situation in Gaza makes it difficult for her to receive the necessary treatment, so she needs to travel abroad to get the care she needs.
