This is a page for our great friends Orlando & Bernie Segura. I have known Orlando for more than 30 years, he has been a boss, mentor, and most especially a friend. Him and his wife have become great friends of me and my wife over the course of that time frame. Bernadette (Bernie), was diagnosed with a brain tumor October of 2015. This diagnoses has challenged Orlando & Bernie like no other challenge. Orlando & Bernie have always been committed to each other, they relied on each other when life throws you with life challenges, yet they have always found the bright side to everything. In any social setting, you never see one without the other. They are un separatable and through that commitment raised two beautiful daughters.
Orlando would always tell me, "John - Prayer has feet", meaning it is always great to say you are going to pray for an individual, however also DO for that individual, through our difficult times, Orlando and Bernie were always there, I could always count on a monetary gift (me and my wife will never forget the get a way weekend he gave us to the Inn of the Mtn Gods), a gift card, or a meal, Bernie and Orlando write the definition of "giving" and "caring" in the dictionary.
Through this diagnoses, Bernie was no longer able to work. Orlando most recently took an early retirement to join Bernie and battle this horrible disease called cancer HEAD ON!
Assisting them in some small way would both mean so much to them, although I asked him for permission if I could do this, HE WOULD NEVER do this on his own. When he retired, he did NOT want allot of fan fair, he wanted to leave quietly and we respected that wish of his, this just tells you of both Orlando's and Bernie's character. They are beautiful inside and out, Bernie together with Orlando could make you laugh and feel better in any situation.
Bernie has been ongoing extensive medical treatment since being diagnosed.
The money raised here will be used to fill the monthly household income gap in some small way.
While I am asking for your consideration in giving monetarily, I'm also asking for your prayers in a full recovery for Bernie.
I will upload a picture of both Bernie & Orlando - the only one I had at my finger tips was one of my wife and Bernie.
I personally have been giving of myself with 30 Burbee's (exercise move) every day for 30 days, I am currently on day 24, I have chosen a different spot everyday to bring awarness of Cancer and to show Bernie and Orlando we support them. I have received so much support from others through this, I have been blessed by it, much more so than what I could ever have given by doing this.
