Tokyo Marathon Run for a Cause
Donation protected
One of my bucket list items was to run the Tokyo Marathon (thinking that I would not get picked by the lottery - with only a 10% chance of "winning"). Of course I got an email congratulating me on being chosen to run and after getting over the initial shock - I figured there's no better way to stay motivated and keep honest in training by having others supporting my efforts.
And so I decided to raise money for a local charity O.G.A. for Aid (http://www.ogaforaid.org/) who has helped the survivors of the March 2011 tsunami here in Japan for the past 5 years. We did a volunteer event with them in Tohoku and I was amazed to see how many survivors are still trying to recover from the devastation of earthquake. They do some amazing work with the community and often work with the local schools (which is how I was introduced) and community resources like libraries, community centers, etc.
My goal is to raise $2000 and if I hit that goal I will shave my head in a mohawk and run the race like it's still 1980. I've also found that nothing motivates my friends and family like my own humiliation.
Thanks in advance for your support and obviously since I'm Japanese, I'll be taking lots of pictures of the event and hopefully my mohawk on display in all its glory...
Thanks!
