Epilepsy Service Dog for Mattie!
Donation protected
Hi
, my name is Regina or (mommy) to Mattie.
Mattie has Sotos syndrome and has been through alot in her 6 years. She has endured multiple surgeries; with the most recent being open heart surgery, she has been our Warrior Princess through all of it! She has more surgeries ahead and she deals with alot. She has struggled with seizures her whole life and has also been diagnosed with epilepsy. However, even with medication for her epilepsy Mattie has still had seizures that have disrupted her life! Especially when she goes and and tries to have fun and do normal kid activities and gets excited to be a kid!!! So to help her with her independence and our peace of mind we are trying to get a service dog to help her as she grows and wants to get out and do more stuff a normal 6/7 year old should be able to do ...... with every other health issue she has; she really needs a break to be more of a "normal " kid......
SO after a ton of research and interviews with others with special needs kids and their families experiences, we looked in our area for a place that helps families start the long, expensive process of getting a seizure service dog : we applied and we're accepted into a program for Mattie .....
Now for the real work to begin.... tons more paperwork, working with doctors and... finding the money to make this happen for Mattie! ...... we invite you to follow our journey as we need all the support we can get! To be continued .......
