Life is tough, unpredictable and fragile. Hard times are inevitable. At one time or another, we will all go through hard times. In those times, no matter how well thought out our plans were, we may not succeed. The world that we are living in right now has been an example of that in so many ways.
Information about Sele Enat:
-Sele Enat is an orphanage in Ethiopia that was founded in 2002.
- Sele Enat is currently supporting more than 1000 children and women in 8 different programs. These programs include community-based support for children and their families (sponsorship), foster care and group homes, institutional care, integrated care and support for special needs children, women’s empowerment and other projects.
- Sele Enat has placed many children for international adoption.
- Our volunteers have played a significant role in our work.
Why we are doing this:
-Ethiopia has closed doors for international adoptions since 2017 and adoption agencies were vital parts of the sources of our income.
-We have been looking for different ways of expanding our fundraising efforts and one of them was organizing events through out the year. None of those could happen because of COVID-19.
- High level of inflation in Ethiopia (20%) hit our food and food related market and we couldn’t help but be affected by it. The out break of COVID-19 has made these even harder.
- For the health and safety of our children and our staff, our admin staff is working from home; we are not allowing guests to visit; volunteers are no longer allowed to come to our compound and our expenses have skyrocketed.
