Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy Surgery for Luka

Luka was diagnosed in 2012 with Cerebral Palsy. He lives with his mom, dad, twin brother, and sister in Montenegro. Luka's mom experienced a difficult delivery with the twins and Luka's condition was confirmed a couple of years later. Luka is now nine, and hasn't been independently mobile for his entire life.

Last year, Luka was identified as a good candidate for Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy surgery at the St. Louis Children's Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri ( www.stlouischildrens.org/about-selective-dorsal-rhizotomy ). This spinal cord procedure will isolate spastic nerve endings which prevent smooth muscle contractions and will be followed-up by a specialized physical therapy program to give Luka the ability to walk unassisted.

Luka's surgery is arranged for the end of May. However, due to reasons beyond their control they don't have the resources to pay for it. We're hoping to raise $50,000 for them. Our mission is to make the surgery a possibility for Luka, to improve his quality of life, and give him a chance at a brighter future.
