Selena’s health journey

Donation protected
Hello, I am helping to raise money for my good friends daughter, Selena. I have known Selena and her family since she was 5 years old. She has recently been battling some serious health issues which unfortunately cut short her first year of college. Any money raised will go directly to Selena to help pay for medical bills and all other unforeseen expenses that come along with complex medical issues. We are hoping to ease the burden and get Selena back where she belongs, a care free college girl!

Here is Selena’s story in her own words.
Hi everyone! For a little bit of background about what is going on, I was admitted to the hospital on December 14th very anemic and with critically low blood counts. I stayed there for ten days while they ran a bunch of tests and found out I have Paroxysmal Nocturnal Hemoglobinuria and Bone Marrow Failure. There are treatments for this disease, but the only cure is receiving a bone marrow transplant. From the end of December until now I have been going to the clinic 2-3 times a week for blood and platelet transfusions as well as figuring out who could be my bone marrow donor. On January 18th I found out Savanah is a full match and will be donating her bone marrow to me. I have gone through some testing and will continue to go through some testing in the next couple of weeks. Tomorrow I am having surgery to get my central line placed, NJ tube placed, one of my ovaries removed, and another biopsy of my hip done. March 20th-24th will be what is called my "workup week". During this week I will spend multiple hours a day every day at the clinic to make sure I am cleared for transplant. Thursday, March 30th I will be admitted to the hospital and start the chemotherapy I need to wipe out my immune system to get me prepared for transplant day which will be April 6th if everything goes according to plan. This is a rough overview of the many things that are currently happening in order for this transplant to go smoothly. Thank you all!

Selena was able to have her bone marrow transplant today, April 14th, after a few set backs. Please consider donating to this amazing young woman.
