Sellafield Ltd Degree Apprentice 3 Peak Challenge

Degree Apprentices take on the 24 hour National Three Peak Challenge with the goal of ascending and descending each of the highest peaks in England, Scotland, and Wales with the aim to raise money for the North West Air Ambulance Service. The walk is a total of 26 miles long with 3064 metres of ascent. We will start this challenge on the 1st of June at 6am and finish on the 2nd after descending from Snowdon at 6am after finishing the three highest peaks in the UK!

We have chosen the North West Air Ambulance for the charity as they play a vital role in saving lives at critical moments across the area. The North West Air Ambulance operates 24 hours a day to deploy highly skilled paramedics to time – sensitive emergency scenes. The service relies solely on charity funding and they require £12 million annually to stay operational, which averages out at £3500 per callout. This specialist service is not only relevant for fell walkers, in fact the most common cause of callout is for cardiac arrests! They also attend road traffic accidents to complete blood transfusions and chest decompressions (along with many other life saving treatments) roadside, which regular paramedics are unable to do.
