Support Baby Selmon

On Saturday, Jan. 28, Billy Selmon, beloved husband, son, brother and friend, passed away after an unexpected hospital visit and emergency abdominal surgery. His wife, Hillary, and his parents, Angela and Bill, were by his side.

Billy also leaves behind a baby, due in May. Please join us in honoring Billy by ensuring that Hillary and their child are cared for and supported in the days, months and years ahead.

Billy was born on March 12, 1993, to Angela and Bill in Mableton, Ga. After Billy graduated from Pace Academy in 2011, he went on to study economics and play basketball at Bates College and graduated in 2015.

After college, Billy worked in property management in Boston, Mass. He then spent a year in banking in Brewer, Maine. Most recently, he served as a retirement consultant at Empower. While at Bates, Billy met Hillary Throckmorton, and they began dating in 2014. Together they lived in Boston, Maine and Atlanta, traveled the world, spoiled their beloved dog Kobe, and bought their first home together. They were married on August 28, 2021, in Dedham, Maine, and they are expecting a baby in May 2023. Everyone knows that Billy would have been an incredible dad.

Billy was a proud member of Shad Nation basketball, and he loved to golf and listen to good music. Always on the go—walking Kobe, going to the gym, or playing a pick-up game—Billy also developed a knack for cooking, a green thumb, and was the newest member of the HOA board. As one of the most active and healthy people we knew, Billy could also be caught with a burger and fries and a good beer while closely monitoring his fantasy football teams.

Billy’s glowing smile and infectious laugh will never be forgotten. People gravitated toward Billy because of his warmth and laid-back charm. He was everyone’s biggest hype man, especially for his younger brother, Kenny. No matter who you talk to, Billy was unanimously an amazing husband, son, brother, co-worker, and friend. Every single person who knew him has a story about how good Billy made them feel.
