Katie Cooney's Medical Fund

Katie Cooney has recently been diagnosed with Stage 3B Breast Cancer (triple negative which is one of the most aggressive types). Her tumor is 9.5 cm. She also has positive lymph nodes in her Axilla (armpit) and two were found in her lung and hylem (part of lung).

Katie has started chemo and will be undergoing twenty-four treatments, then unknown rounds of radiation.  After all of the chemo and radiation treatments are done, she will undergo surgery to make sure the treatments worked. She will then have her ovaries removed due to the hormones and a very high risk of Ovarian Cancer. This journey may take over a year, depending on how well she responds to the chemo.

Unfortunately, Katie did not sign up for short term benefits and since they have to sign up a year in advance, she is unable to receive them right now. She is working as much as she can and she also has some time off saved that she is using for her chemo treatments. Any donations are greatly appreciated. All funds will go to help her with her medical expenses. Katie is an amazing person, who always finds the bright side in every situation. Lets help to keep her spirit up and her attitude positive.

Katie and her daughter, Isabella (age 6), are currently living in Nashville, Tennessee. Katie spent many years in the SW Iowa area and made many close friends while she was here.
