Senate Theater Marquee
Donation protected
We are the Senate Theater on Michigan Avenue in Detroit. We are the home of the Detroit Theater Organ Society, and have been here since 1964. Our theater was built in 1926 and had closed in 1955. We bought it and have spent countless volunteer hours restoring it.
The Senate is home to the Mighty Wurlitzer from the Fisher Theater! This magnificent theater pipe organ has been in the Senate longer than it was in the Fisher, and has provided monthly organ concerts for more than 50 years now! It is one of the largest Wurlitzers in the world, and is a one of a kind design.
Unfortunately our sign (and the steel structure that holds it up) has rusted over the years and we had to take down the letterboard part, making it difficult to advertise our movies and events. We need to raise about $150,000 to put up a new letterboard so people know we are open for business.
Any and all donations would be greatly appreciated! We love our theater and it's Wurlitzer, both gems of Detroit! Thank you so much for considering a donation to our non-profit "organ"ization!
