Send a Fat, Fun Umpire to Cooperstown

Season after season - amidst fiery Coaches, flirting Mom’s & their kids who can’t keep their cleats tied - I’ve brought you the stories and laughs from the local ⚾️ leagues.

I know many of you have enjoyed the images and behind the scenes action, according to the comments and suggestions imploring me to put together in a book one day.

So I come to you now - my FB Army - to ask for your assistance in sending me to Cooperstown this August with a wonderful group of LB boys for a week of fun and baseball.

Each team that plays is responsible for providing an umpire, which entails taking care of the Ump’s travel costs and such. The Ump’s are given lodging and meals and laundry services on site, and are required to work a certain number of games gratis for the week (I think 7-8 games minimum)

It’s an amazing week, one I’d have been willing to give one of my brothers up in order to go when I was 12!!

I was lucky enough to go 15 years ago with the Laverne LumberBarons, and I had as much fun as many of the boys!

Every morning I was the 1st one at the Baseball HOF (we get a pass for the week); every afternoon I worked a couple great games; and every night we Blue’s would gather at the Steakhouse and talk ball.

I’d wander around the grounds - over 100 bungalows for teams & Umps; 20+ fields - and trade pins with the fellas and look for pickup whiffle ball games to call balls-n-strikes for.

Forget a dream trip at age 12.

It was a dream trip for a 39 year old!!

And now I get to go again, and we could use some fundraising help.

The team is doing all they can, with dozens of things going/planned.

But I want to try and cover my costs, and anything else for the squad…as it’s a very costly week for a group of players, coaches, parents and families.

So please to$$ a little our way, if you can and would.

I’ll be grateful, and promise to share the experience with y’all throughout the week.

I’ll post pics and videos and stories as well as share the link and password so you can watch the games I’m umpiring (for positive feedback only!)

And know that you’d be helping a group of boys experience the trip of their young lives…as well as a chubby, happy go lucky Umpire!
