Send a Ugandan Orphan Back to School
Donation protected
We are organizing this fundraiser for my friend Paul Makete, a Christian brother who works tirelessly to feed, shelter, and educate 37 Ugandan orphans of various ages. As an orphan himself, Paul acutely understands what these precious children need, and he's done without numerous things in order to provide for them. You can read more about the Tributaries of Hope orphanage here:
The orphanage faces ongoingly heavy costs, and Paul welcomes anyone interested in coming alongside him to provide more regular support. With the help of a generous donor, they were recently able to build a perimeter wall to secure themselves from thieves and wild animals, and they are currently growing some of their own food through vegetable gardening, poultry, and piggery projects. As the children go back to school, they need sponsors to help cover the rest of their tuition and other needs for the rest of this year, including uniforms, books, pens and pencils, school lunches, etc. Some children's fees have been cleared, but the current need for 30 children is $3060, meaning that a little over $100 will cover the cost for a single child. In light of the orphanage's various pressing needs, I have chosen $5,000 as a round number goal for this campaign, in hopes that we can give Paul a little extra beyond the exact goal.
Friends of Paul's ministry haven't yet formed a non-profit which could receive gifts and give donors a tax write-off, but we realize this would be ideal and are looking into our options. Meanwhile, we have a secure line of transfer to Paul, and you can be assured that your gift will make it where it needs to go. Our stateside point man Casey Malish will collect the funds, and you can either write to him at cmalish123[at]g m a i l[dot]com or send me a message on Twitter @bmcgrewvy if you would like to ask further questions. If this work speaks to your heart, then join us! Send a Ugandan orphan back to school today!
