SEND AID TO FLOOD VICTIMS IN SYLHET
Donation protected
As many of you may have heard, Sylhet has just been hit with an all time worst record flooding. Electricity has been cut and thousands of people have had to flee their homes for safety. The situation is going to get worst for the next few days! We are going to send aid to the people of Sylhet by distributing food parcels to help flood victims. Please donate whatever you can ❤️
We are raising funds for the people of Sylhet who may need food aid and other necessities after the devastating floods which has left thousands of people stranded and in desperate need as food may become scarce as the situation continues.
The funds will be withdrawn into my personal Bank account which I will then send to my uncle, Mamunur Rahman who will be leading operations to distribute food packs on our behalf.
All funds will ONLY go towards food packs and helping the victims of the Sylhet flood.
We have a trusted team ready in Sylhet who will volunteer for the project. Mamunur lives very close to major areas of flooding so accessing people will not be a difficult task. Mamunur will have a team of volunteers who regularly help us complete past projects. He knows many people in need of Aid as he lives very close to them. Mamunurs volunteers are locals who live in or surrounding Mamunurs village home. Mamunur and his team will then use the funds to prepare food packs, just like the ones we did during the month of Ramadan when we raised money to feed the poor using GoFundMe.
Once the funds reach to our team in Bangladesh, they will go out and buy lots of necessities that go in food packs. Each food pack will cost roughly £10 and will include plenty of food to keep them well fed during these struggling times. Food such as rice, dhaal, chick peas and others will be added into the packs in big aid bags. We will provide a photograph of our last food aid to show you an example.
Mamunur and his team will then prepare the food packs and sends us photographs of them doing so. Once the volunteers prepare the packs, it will be ready to distribute.
Plan of distribution
Mamunur has been in contact with local community leaders and local authorities and is aware which areas are safe to enter to send aid. Safety is a top priority for Mamunur and his team of volunteers. Mamunur has a list of areas in Sylhet which is safe to enter. These are Bishwanath, Balaganj, Sherpur and other surrounding areas. Sunamganj which is the area that has been hit with flood the most is currently not safe to enter therefore, Mamunur and his team will wait for the area to be a safe zone before they enter. To distribute the packs, Mamunur will be hiring trucks to reach to the victims many of whom are are living in poverty due to the flooding. Traditionally in food pack aids, announcements are made locally which the receivers of the food packs will meet at a location to collect their parcels. As we are dealing with floods, we want to ensure the victims safety, Mamunur and his team will go village to village distributing aid. Photographs will be taken. As Mamunur enters each area, he will tick off which areas he has sent Aid to in order to be well organised during distribution. Mamunur and his team of local volunteers have enough funds to reach many people as the funds will cover a lot of areas and will feed many people in Sylhet. He will continue the distribution in the aftermath of the floods.
Food packs is the best way to help victims of flooding as people will be struggling to feed their families in such difficult times. We are working close with many local community leaders who will be assisting us as we distribute the aid. We are also in contact with local authorities in the area who will make sure our team can safely distribute aid.
