Send Anthony to Utah for LDS General Conference
Donation protected
For years ex-Mormons have asked me to visit Utah during one of the LDS Church's General Conference sessions and engage with people there using Street Epistemology (SE).
Now that I have had two good talks with LDS missionaries (both will be on my YouTube channel soon), SE is increasing in popularity, and requests to speak in Utah are more frequent, I want to finally plan a trip to Salt Lake City in 2020 to make this a reality.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints General Conference will be held April 4–5, 2020 and October 3–4, 2020. I'd like to head to Utah in April rather than October, but this detail still needs to be worked out with the various groups and people on the ground there.
While there, I'll give at least one talk on SE to Oasis, a Sunday gathering of people, many of which have left religion behind (Oasis has four chapters in Utah!). I'll also likely sit down in studio with an ex-Mormon podcaster or two and discuss Street Epistemology. And of course I'll find a good area to record several hours of footage of me doing SE with the locals. I imagine there will likely be more opportunities with others in the ex-Mormon community who are working hard to make a real difference.
If this trip to Utah is successful, it could serve as a template for future, topic-specific outreach events (e.g., flat Earth, anti-vaccines, Muslims, JW's, etc.).
$5,000 would easily cover my hotel, airfare and rental car to make all of this happen. All remaining funds will be equally split and donated to Salt Lake City Oasis and Street Epistemology International (SEI), of which I am a founder and its current Executive Director.
Other than reimbursing me for expenses, none of this money will go to me personally.
The only thing preventing this LDS-specific event from happening is funding. That's where you come in.
Will you help make a trip to Utah in 2020 a reality and expand Street Epistemology into the Mormon and ex-Mormon communities by making a donation right now?
P.S. After this project is funded, I'll link to a public Google folder with expense tracking and receipts so anyone interested can track things.
P.P.S. This fund raiser is something I am doing personally, and is unrelated to my responsibilities as Executive Director of SEI.
