Send CCI Scholars to Sydney!!

It's hard to believe that a year has passed since Cobourg Collegiate Institute was introduced to the World Scholar's Cup - an international meeting of youth from around the world inspired by a love of learning. Just for fun, our small group of 3 gave it a shot...to their great surprise placing 5th at the Toronto Regional round to qualify for the Global Round in Barcelona, Spain. The team proudly represented CCI and all of Canada, placing 43rd out of over 300 teams, qualifying them for the Tournament of Champions at Yale University. With 2 of the 3 team members moving to university in the fall, the Yale competition unfortunately wasn't to be...however, our link to World Scholar's Cup was strong!
This year, not one but THREE teams travelled to Toronto Regionals earlier this month....and all three managed to qualify for the Global Round, being held in August in SYDNEY AUSTRALIA!! Given the distance, cost, and complexity of a trip this far, the difficult decision was made to make the trip with two teams. Even with the reduced numbers, the total cost of the trip for the students for airfare, accommodation, registration fees, and meals, will exceed $26,000.
As with any group, some members are in a better position to pay than others. Any donations received through this GoFundMe fundraiser will not be spread evenly over all of the participants - rather, this funding will go directly to those that are not able to fund their trip.

The two teams are very grateful for any donation that can be made - the experience of sharing the love of learning while representing Cobourg and Canada on the world stage, will be one that will be remembered for a lifetime!
