Send Garen Wright to Mayo Clinic

Donation protected
Hi there! My name is Erin and I've known Cora and Garen Wright since 2016 when Cora walked into the yoga studio where I worked and we established a service reciprocity relationship with her chiropractor practice. She quite literally saved my life twice over the course of the next year after I suffered a severe spinal sprain and subsequent high-risk twin pregnancy.

Cora and Gar are incredibly generous with their time and knowledge, are always kind and open, and seek to do their best in the world. They love rocks and nature and puppies and fixing broken things (homes, gardens, people). To know the Wrights is to love them, they are truly some of the most wonderful people on our planet.

Garen became unexpectedly ill a little over 8 years ago when he was 35- just about to graduate with his Naturopathic Doctorate. His condition has progressed quickly and severely, and he suffers from consistent double vision and vertigo coupled with severe muscle burning and wasting. Gar is in constant pain, and cannot work nor manage his own medical condition. Cora is his primary caretaker, as well as the sole source of income for their household.

The Wrights have exhausted their options of specialists, treatments and doctors amounting to frustrating years of no answers. Doctors agree that his diagnosis is likely a Neurodegenerative condition either due to genetics (he has a rare gene for muscular dystrophy) or immune system malfunction- his immune system is eating his muscle cells.

After compiling and submitting years worth of medical records, Cora was able to get Gar referred and accepted at the Mayo Clinic in the neurology department. Hopefully they can figure out some more concrete diagnosis, or better yet, some treatments!

The Wrights are set to go to the Minnesota Mayo Clinic on January 30 for 5-7 business days. As Mayo Clinic is out of network for them, they are anticipating a pretty hefty out of pocket max for our insurance, plus the time off work for Cora and costs of living out of a hotel room for a week or so. As the Wrights are a single-income household, any contribution towards his anticipated medical expenses would be appreciated greatly. Fingers crossed that he gets some answers and help.
