Hello all!
As you might have heard, I recently was accepted in an international bagpiping competition called Pipe Idol, and I am now one of 16 pipers invited to Scotland to compete. I am excited to be the only piper at this competition representing the United States, and I hope to make it into the finals, which will be held the week before the World Pipe Band Championships in Glasgow, Scotland!
In case you haven’t heard my bagpipe journey, I started learning the bagpipes at age six, and when I was in 8th grade I began doing solo competitions. Each year I moved up a level, and now I am competing around the country in the top amateur grade—Grade 1—as well as competing with a nationally known pipe band. This past year, I was honored to win the Balmoral Classic and placed 2nd at Winter Storm—two highly recognized national competitions. I also won the Midwest region final competition in Chicago, and was recently named Piper of the Day at the Alma Highland Festival! Now I’m excited to go to my first international competition right in the homeland of the highland bagpipes—Scotland. So far I’ve raised $650 toward my trip expenses, but I’ve got a ways to go.
Flying to Scotland and staying for nine days will cost approximately $3000 for me, and similar costs for each of my chaperones—my parents. I’m starting this GoFundMe as a way to raise some of the money for this trip.
Piping in Scotland has been a dream of mine for a long time, and that time is finally here! If you could support my GoFundMe and help me make this dream come true, I would greatly appreciate it.
