Hello! If you are reading this, I appreciate you taking the time to do so.
My son Kane just turned 15. Kane is a wonderful big brother who loves gaming, rap music, making fun of my sneezes, bad jokes, and trying to get out of long hikes in the woods. He has shown an interest in coding and programming and has started some 101 type programs to get started on his learning journey.
Kane has long struggled with school as well as making friends, bullying, and related depression. We moved from New Kensington to Pittsburgh to be back in the city where we can find him clubs and programs where he can meet likeminded kids his age and hopefully find spaces for him where he’s able to make friends and less likely to experience bullying.
We just bought a new house which has, as expected, required most of my expendable income to get things moved and comfortable. Despite being really unable to afford it, I signed Kane up for a week long IDTech course at Carnegie Mellon University, where he will get to spend a whole week with kids his age participating in a Intro to Coding and Programming course. He will get to dorm on campus and have specialized instruction which will greatly help him on his learning journey.
I was able to get his ticket, but took it from my home repairs fund. The investment into his life and his health and his future is paramount to me, and I am happy to put off home related items to have made this happen for him. I created this fundraiser in order to try to offset as much of the expense as possible.
Any help we receive will be greatly appreciated by both Kane and myself. Thanks for reading if you got this far.
