Send Lebanon Ultimate to MENA

Hey, thank you for taking the time and consideration to help give Ultimate Frisbee players from Lebanon a unique experience by allowing them to travel to Saudi Arabia for this year's MENA tournament. (Link: https://www.facebook.com/MENAUltimate)

The Frisbee community in Lebanon was first established in 2015. It started with just a few players meeting on a weekly basis to enjoy the game of Ultimate Frisbee, and has developed into a solid community over the years. Ultimate Frisbee has gained popularity among Lebanese and foreigners in Lebanon.

Throughout the journey there was a point where there were several established teams practising and competing in local and international tournaments. Unfortunately, Lebanon and her people have had to cope with some heavy hits. Political instability, a collapsing economy, the covid 19 pandemic, and more recently the Beirut blast in 2020 have all resulted in many valuable players leaving the country. Despite the circumstances and struggle our community is facing every day, we have been fighting to revive the ultimate spirit and rebuild. So here we are today with a host of new players mixed with the remaining OGs excited and highly motivated to take part in the most important tournament in the region. For the first time since our formation, we hope to compete under the names of the established teams Flying Cedars and Beirut Blitz.

This November 11-12 the annual MENA Ultimate Frisbee Tournament will take place in Saudi Arabia. 16 Teams from across the region will meet up for an unforgettable weekend filled with competitive Ultimate Frisbee games and the chance to become part of the international Frisbee family. Due to the current situation in Lebanon, it is financially impossible for 12 of our players who would like to participate to finance such a trip. With the help of this fundraiser we want to make sure that cost is not a barrier for our players and the tournament is accessible for everyone no matter what socioeconomic backgrounds.

We have calculated the total costs at about 800-850$ per player.

Each of these 12 can contribute a small part themselves. Our goal is to support these players with at least 500$, which sums up to 6000$, to ensure that we are able to send two full teams to the tournament – provided that everyone will be granted a visa.
Besides this go-fund-me campaign, we are doing all we can to raise funds, with the help of our ultimate friends in the MENA region, including hosting tournaments and selling discs.

The funds will be deposited into my personal bank account, where I, as the treasurer of the Lebanese Flying Disc Association, will keep detailed records and use 100% of the funds to buy plane tickets, pay for accommodation and participation fees for our players that can’t afford it.
