Send Love to the Rooney Family
Donation protected
On December 26, 2021, Jim Rooney left his home in Mendham, NJ for a 30-mile bike ride. Four miles from home, despite having the right of way, he was struck by a car and thrown 30 feet. Jim sustained a traumatic brain injury and critical orthopedic injuries, including multiple broken bones. He remained in intensive care at Morristown Medical Center for two weeks and is currently at Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation.
The Rooney family, including their two teenage children, are an extremely close-knit team who are loved by many. To say they are devastated by what has happened is an understatement. Because of pandemic restrictions, Jim’s family has not been allowed to visit him since the accident, which has caused a huge emotional strain.
Jim’s medical treatment and recovery require intensive rehabilitation, not all of which is covered by insurance. Other needs include healthcare assistance, consideration of loss of income, and renovation to the home environment to accommodate Jim when he is able to return home. Carolyn has been forced to take a leave of absence from work to manage Jim’s care and family needs, resulting in additional stress and loss of income. Not all of the extraordinary expenses will be covered, therefore 100% of this fund will go directly to assuring that all of Jim’s care needs are met. Funds will be used to fill gaps for treatment that insurance does not cover including physical and cognitive therapies as well as other specialized therapies related to brain injuries in addition to the needs noted above.
You can help in three ways: Please donate what you can, share this fund with your family and friends, and please keep the Rooneys in your daily prayers. The Rooneys have given so much love to others. It is our hope that we can now offer love and support back to them.
Thank you, Thank you, thank you.
