First Nepal Rowers Invited to Asian Championships!
Donation protected
Attention Rowers, We Have Alignment! We are looking to raise $2500 by September 15 to send two intrepid Nepalese athletes, Sagar Pakharin Tamang and Ronish Bhakhati, along with their coach to Chung ju, Korea for the the Asian Rowing Championships where they will represent the great county of Nepal - in their first regatta ever! Your donation today will help make this happen. Earlier this year, rowers Charlotte Pierce and Melissa Fournier had the pleasure of visiting Nepal and meeting Somraj Paneru, manager of the Rowing Association of Nepal. Somraj has been working tirelessly to bring our favorite sport to the youth of Nepal - no small feat in this developing country. Somraj has already worked a great deal of magic to make this trip happen, securing items like donations of accommodations and a loaner boat from Swift Racing. What the athletes need now are the funds to cover transportation, food, and other costs as they travel to the regatta on October 23-27, 2019. Sagar and Ronish will be able to go to ARC only with outside financial support from people like us. Let’s see how many rowers from around the world we can enlist to donate to this cause! Ready, ROW! Your donation does double duty! A successful trip to the ARC will go a long way toward establishing an in-country youth and masters rowing program in Nepal, which offers beautiful row-able waters with the backdrop of the Himalayas, but lacks boats & oars, ergs, docks, and buildings. Campaign supporters will be the first to know about rowing tours to Nepal!
