UPDATE FROM NIC:
Hi everyone. For those who aren't aware of my circumstances, I began my fight against chondrosarcoma roughly 2 years ago. We have had many ups and downs throughout the journey but I have unfortunately been told that I am now beyond the help of my medical care team at St Vincent's. I've been given roughly a year, up to a maximum of 2, to enjoy the last of my life. While I am feel confident and boisterous, ready to make the most of this time, unfortunately I cannot make all the preparations and dive into the experiences I would like have and do all the things I need & want to do without your help. The money raised through this GoFundMe is intended to help Jayde (my wife) and I prepare for what this year and beyond brings, and to help us make more memories together, so that we can say we truly did live the last of our life together to the fullest.
I appreciate every single soul who donates even a cent, as you will not only help me to embrace what I can within these dire circumstances, but also to provide comfort and help to my wife in the dark days she has ahead of her.

Thank you so much, even just for taking the time to read this. Even just sharing this would really mean the world to me, for those of you who can.

Nic

ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION:
In June of 2023, Nic had a fall at work. He thought he might have done a hamstring, but two weeks later when it was still sore, he went to see his doctor. There was scans and blood test, and doctors suspected bone cancer. After a bone biopsy in his hip, Nic was diagnosed with a rare type of Stage 1 bone cancer (chondrosarcoma).

A few months later, Nic endured an 8 hour surgery to remove the cancer. Following this surgery, Nic had had to learn how to walk again, using a wheel chair at first, and then crutches as he recovered. Nic felt lucky that his doctors caught the growths when they did, that they hadn't spread and had been removed. Nic's team told him he had a good chance of full remission and recovery. Determined and relived, he looked forward to recovering and returning to work. Nic returned to work in May, nearly 12 months after his fall.

During a routine appointment in June, just one month later, Nic's doctors became concerned. Nic underwent testing again and the results came back, 3 more pieces of tumour, deeper in his pelvis. The cancer is a rarer type than originally thought (chondrosarcoma in the soft tissue) and is resistant to traditional treatment methods.

The good news is that Nic is a candidate for a suitable radiation and chemotherapy trail being run in Sydney over 10 weeks. (It is not yet completely determined where and how the treatment will be delivered. Depending on factors Nic’s reaction to the medication, the entire 10 weeks may be in Sydney, or a hybrid combination of Sydney and Melbourne.)

Nic and Jayde's families have watched them battle through the scary unknown that cancer brings once and come out the other. We watched them give it their all, and want to help them do it again. Nic is a loved husband, brother, uncle and friend and we want to help him be in the best position possible to push through again.

Nic and Jayde and their families appreciate donations big and small to help send Nic to Sydney for treatment. Every dollar helps Nic beat this pain in the ass (literally)!

Funds will go towards:
-Travel and accommodation costs in Sydney and/or Melbourne for Nic and Jayde
-General expenses while Nic and Jayde take time off work for this trial
-Home renovation costs to ensure their home is safe for Nic during his recovery
-General expenses while Nic is off work during his recovery period
