Send Nick to ACT
A couple summers ago I spent two weeks immersed in Shakespeare at a classical theater intensive at American Conservatory Theater. It was a revelatory experience, and I had a nagging suspicion it would alter the course of my career. Shortly after that, I was asked to apply for their semester-long program. I wrote back saying I was flattered, but that I did not meet their age or education requirements. The registrar told me that an exception would be made for me if I were accepted and that scholarships were available "to students whose presence in the program could enhance the experience for all involved."
Lo and behold, I have been accepted and I have been offered a scholarship; on top of that, when I asked if any further financial aid was available the school generously agreed to lower my tuition fee even further. Unfortunately the $8,750 in financial aid it isn't enough to cover the full costs of my time in San Francisco, but it is a healthy start.
I need to raise a total of $10,375 by January 20, 2017. I will be taking on extra work immediately, and I will be saving and cutting costs wherever possible. I am asking you to help me close the funding gap and speed the process along.
I need to raise about $25 per hour of instruction—will you send me to American Conservatory Theater for one hour?
THE PROGRAM
American Conservatory Theater is one of the most celebrated resident theaters in the United States and received the 1979 Tony Award for Outstanding Regional Theater. Its school consistently ranked as one of the best actor training programs in the United States (1, 2). As a semester-long student, I will be training with graduate program faculty, as well as taking weekly masterclasses from visiting artists. The course of study includes training in acting, voice, physical theater, devised theater, and production (3).
