Send our US Wushu Athletes to Pan-Ams 2022

We at Elite Kung Fu have always chosen our team members based on their talent, passion for the sport, and most of all, their willingness and demonstrated ability to be caring and supportive teammates. In the 10 years since Elite began, led by our supportive and caring team of super coaches Hannah, Stephanie, Tina, and Nathan, our team members and their families have formed countless close friendships that will continue well after they move on from the sport. Our current team has transformed from being mere acquaintances to having an unbreakable bond. We’ve faced challenges regarding pandemic uncertainties, age group changes, and injuries; but through it all, the students have trained together, cried together, and laughed together.

 

At this past 2022 USA Wushu Junior Team Trials, 11 of our Elite team members were fortunate enough to qualify to compete for Team USA at the 13th Pan American Wushu Championships in Brasilia, Brazil in July 2022. All members of the team have worked incredibly hard, and the students have watched each other sacrifice endless time and energy in order to gain this opportunity. Through all the difficulties that we’ve overcome together, we have created not just a team, but a family. As a result, we don’t wish to leave behind any of the students who have earned their place as a competitor.

 

However, the total cost of this trip will likely exceed $3000 each, which the athletes and their families are completely responsible for. Unfortunately, contrary to popular belief, not everyone who lives in the Bay Area is a tech worker with a high salary and stock options. We don’t want money to be the sole barrier for those who have given everything just to have this chance. We believe that all of our qualified Elite team members equally deserve to represent the United States in Brazil, regardless of their personal financial situation. Therefore, we would be incredibly grateful for any help you could provide. All donations will be used to directly help Elite Team members offset their travel expenses, providing each of them with this wonderful opportunity to strengthen their bond further while proudly competing for their country. Many countries fund their athletes, but we have to take money out of our own pockets in order to represent the USA. We have recently spent a large sum just for the qualifying competition, increasing the burden that is placed on us now.

 

Your generous donation will give these incredible young athletes the ability to rise to their potential. They have so much to give and prove, not just to themselves, but to the country and the world. They have the drive to push themselves and make the US proud. All they need is a helping hand to support them so that they can ascend to that next level.
