Send Sandra to GDC!
Who is Sandra?
There's a lot of people passionate about connecting Game Developers in the Industry but so few as passionate, persistent and dedicated to growing the space as Sandra Castro Pinzón.
Sandra founded Tan Grande y Jugando a Colombian gaming news channel dedicated to what's going on in games in Colombia. Sandra is a great advocate for empowering developers in the Gaming Industry and focuses her energy passionately on building awareness around Colombia and what Colombian devs are doing. She's the official organizer of the Women Game Jame - Colombia chapter.
As you probably know, GDC is expensive. It's hard to get here from many countries and unless you're traveling for work, the cost is in the thousands. Sandra is a self starter and funds in this moment and time are difficult to come by. So we're hoping gaming as a community can help Sandra out.
Why we're doing this?
Because Sandra like many game industry professionals in Latin America deserve a chance to be on an even playing field and have their voices heard. The chance to be at GDC is often once in a lifetime and we're trying to make sure that Sandra has the opportunity to join us hopefully not just once.
How we're spending:
$375 on Expo Pass Plus
$1000 on Flight from Bogota to San Francisco & Back
$200 on Meals & Ubers
$75 for whatever GoFundMe takes out from our donations
If we raise past this amount, we plan on contributing 100% of the remaining proceeds to other Latinx industry professionals who cannot make it out to GDC themselves without assistance.
Who are we?
My name's Cristina Amaya and alongside some other game industry professionals in gaming, I'm hoping to do what I can to give back. I'm so incredibly lucky to be in the Bay Area and to be able to afford to be at GDC thanks to work. I'm being helped by Fernando Reyes who believes that one person can be the catalyst that causes an impact and create change for many.
