Send Simona Bearcub back to school!
Simona Bearcub has worked very hard on her studies for 3 years now and is rounding out with her fourth year, as a Junior. She Majors in Indigenous Nation’s Studies with a minor in Law and Legal Studies. As a former foster child, her passion is Tribal Law with a focus in ICWA. Simona is very motivated and has a high drive to reach her goals. In her 3 years at PSU, she has made the Deans list, Presidents List, and received a leadership award. Simona has been very involved in the college, not only putting time into her studies, but putting in work as the Native Nations Coordinator and Equity and Inclusion Advocate for the Multicultural Center.
Her experience as a queer, Afro-Indigenous person, former foster child, and mother of 6 beautiful children has strengthened her drive to give back to community and this is where her heart and her passion resides. Simona continues to find ways to evolve and bring her best self forward to show up in good ways “It is my hope to reenter the educational space to continue finding ways to be a good relative and advocate.” She says. Her journey has not been an easy one, but she has proved her ability to rise through challenges.
This last year has been a rough one for many of us, and Simona has been there to help so many in our community, now it is time for us to help her. Simona has gotten through her schooling on her own this far, but currently she is short funded for classes she needs to graduate. I created this fundraiser for my sister in hopes this will help her reach her goals, because sometimes it is hard to ask for ourselves. Simona needs $5,000 for tuition fees, books, and supplies to get her through the semester. Simona has already enrolled and needs a down payment of $1,000 ASAP to officially lock in three classes: Native Spirituality, Tribal Critical Race Theory and Statistics. She will then be able to make payments each month. I understand that many of us are struggling during this time. If you can spare a few bucks it would certainly help, but if you cannot, we would be grateful if you gave this a share. We are deeply grateful for your support.
