Send the MVRHS 4x800 Relay Team To Nationals!

MVRHS track team members Jonathan Norton, Daniel Serpa, Daniel da Silva, and Zach Utz have been chasing their dream of qualifying for the National High School Championships since Freshman year at MVRHS. Their dream came true under brutally hot conditions on May 14th, running 8:03 for the 4x800 meter relay - three seconds under the qualifying standard! Countless training hours, ferries, bus rides, and races have gone into this pursuit. Covid hasn’t helped. These kids have diligently chipped away at their times, starting in the 8:30s and now at 8:03. Averaging just under 2:01 each per half-mile they now hold the MVRHS school record!

HOW YOU CAN HELP:

Nationals are being held June 16-19, 2022, in Eugene, Oregon, which for islanders is just about as far away from the Vineyard as you can get. Qualifying is only the start. The team needs plane tickets, a rental car, hotel rooms, food, and entry fees....it adds up quickly.

Anything you can donate would be greatly appreciated. By helping out today, you will be a part of the story of how four young men came together, against a lot of adversity, and made it to Nationals!
