Send Bailey to Italy for USA soccer
Donation protected
On October 5, 2015 we received an email that stated:
"AIST sent you an invitation for:
USA Select HS Soccer Team - Italy 2016
Friday, July 1, 2016"
We opened the invitation and read all about it... we were skeptical - I mean it was just a few months ago when the USA was playing Japan in the womens world cup soccer game when Bailey looked at me and asked in the most sincere tone if I ever thought she might have an opportunity to play for the US womens world cup team or if I thought it was too late for her. My answer to her was that it was probably too late, as most of those kids started training with ODP when they were very young, and unfortunately, we didn't have the extra time or money to get our kids involved in the ODP program. So, when we received the email invite we were totally excited, but like I said, skeptical alike. So, we did some digging and researching - we reached out to her competitive soccer coach and a few college coaches that she has been in contact with to see what they knew about the program, and if they could help us with the validity of the invite. After a few days we heard back from a couple of the coaches whom both told us that it was definitely a legit invite, and a true honor that Bailey was chosen to participate on the U19 USA Womens Select Team, and travel to Italy on July 1-10, 2016. WHAT A SURPRISE - WHAT AN HONOR!!! There are only 3 ways to be selected to be a member of this team:
1. Be seen and recruited by AIST directly (at showcase tournaments, etc...)
2. Recommendations by coaches
3. Attend a try-out session and be selected
Not only will she be playing the sport she loves in ITALY... but they will be going on several different sight-seeing tours as well while there. This is a HUGE opportunity for her, and one she is not taking lightly. Obviously, this amazing opportunity does have expenses attached to it. Although the $3800 that we have to pay to AIST is all inclusive (includes flight from NY to Italy, all her food, all the sight-seeing tours, her jerseys, the training and the games, etc...) it does NOT cover her flight from TUL to NY, nor does it cover her food on those travel dates, or her "tip money" or her "shopping for memorabilia" money that she will need. It is for this that we are in hopes of fundraising $5000 to cover most of the expense of this trip.
Bailey (Jarvis) has played for her club team, NEOFC, for the past 5 years under direction of Coaches David Critchley & Alex Miranda. She also plays for the Owasso Rams HS soccer team under direction of Coach Sam Bowers. She is a 4 year letterman on the HS team. She recently verbally committed to continue her soccer career at Northwestern Oklahoma State University under the direction of Coach Craig Liddell. Bailey maintains her 4.0 GPA, while working at Buffalo Wild Wings and Ameriflex Hose & Accessories.
We appreciate any and all donations of any amount to help offset the cost of this amazing opportunity for her! Thank you in advance.
